I noticed that some people were coming to the blog looking for info on the TS3650′s arbor. No doubt you guys are having the same problem as I was. So here’s a picture of the problem, and what the new arbor looks like. Forgive my drawing.

As you can see the problem lies in the machining of the thread. In the old model, the arbor was machined with a gap left between the threads and the…ummm…the thing where a normal blade sits. You can fix this problem at home in one these three inventive and ultimately futile ways. JB Weld the gap shut and then grind the joint smooth. Use heavy duty thread tape (plumbing supply, I used the pink kind) carefully spinnig the arbor by hand until you fill the hole. Be careful to put it on in the right direction. Lastly you can try to find a rubber O ring that fits in there. Try buying a multipackĀ at HD or lowes. I would look in the faucet repair section. In the end you’re going to have to get his fixed for real, but you can feel warm and fuzzy with the knowledge that at least you tried your best.
